A new set of global goals...
In 2000, the United Nations adopted the Millennium Declaration which provided eight global goals for development, known as the Millennium Development Goals. These goals are expiring at the end of 2015, and will be replaced by a more ambitious Post-2015 Development Agenda. Following numerous consultations, the UN has retained 17 goals on a broad range of topics, known as sustainable development goals (for now). At the UN General Assembly in New York in September 2015, member states will agree upon these goals. In the Global Shapers Community, we believe that these discussions are too important to be kept within the walls of the UN, and are determined to bring everyone into the dialogue through our Sustainability Sundays.
